This video is about homosexuality in our society nowadays. There all these stereotypes of sexuality. How this
video relates to what we've learn in class
is that it's difficult for society to accept change; if it's whites accepting colored people as
equal or heterosexual to accept homosexuality. If a little girl is athletic
she's looked upon as boyish. If a little boy is emotional, he is considered
feminine. We are never going to be able to please society because there's
always going to be something wrong either by your race, sexuality, gender, or
even the mere fact of how you dress. This song says, "I might not be the
same, but that's not important. No freedom till we're equal, damn right I
support it". Sometimes people are afraid to even support homosexuals
because even if you're not people start to tease you. I'll be honest and say
that saying "you're gay" as a joke has become such an everyday thing
we don't stop and think of what we are really saying. Words can hurt someone so
much whiteout even trying. Even though
you're not gay it's great if you support and try to open other people's eyes.
I absolutely agree that the changes are difficult. Also some changes need to take some time. Our society is not ready to say that all men are equal. My generation was born in another time, with different norms of behavior. And it is very difficult to accept homosexuality in one day. Gays should not force people to accept their love and rights. They should be patient. On the other hand, heterosexuals need to learn how to understand feelings of homosexuals.
ReplyDeleteLove your background picture soooooooo mucccchhhhhhhh…
ReplyDeleteI like your analysis of the video, and I very agree with you that our society is hard to accept new changes. I think it’s because many people still living with close mind and too deep with their traditional culture. So lucky we are living in California today, we have the most open-minded people and diversity culture.
